The Unexpected reason behind Facebook’s blue colour
As Most Design schools and designers teach, colours influence human emotions and choices. Thus, the right colour choices in the development of brands are very necessary and important for effective communication with the customers or users.
However interestingly, influencing humans emotions wasn’t the actual reason for the choice of the blue brand colour of Facebook, a brand now used by over 2.85 billion people.
Funny enough or rather unusual, Facebook is blue because Mark Zuckerberg, the founder is red-green colour blind, thus blue is the colour he sees best.
While there may be other reasons why bright blue has been the sustaining colour of the Facebook brand, Zuck’s colour condition remains the origin of Facebook’s blue. This was confirmed in an interview where he said “Blue is the richest colour for me; I can see all of blue.”
